Job Description – Wireless Installation Technician Anchorage Alaska The Wireless Installation Engineer is responsible for installing wireless and network equipment on base station sites, roof tops and at customer premises. This includes testing and repair of network equipment, base station and premises wiring, router configurations, network switching and cooperative testing and troubleshooting with support technicians. The Wireless Installation Engineer will also perform base station maintenance, installation and upgrades of Wireless equipment perform network and customer based cable installation and must be familiar with routers and I.P. routing. The technician will be expected to install, troubleshoot, and maintain high-capacity base station equipment in the wireless access network, work with other providers of capacity to resolve problems with circuits and must be available for an on-call basis. The Wireless Installation Engineer could perform additional duties as required including but not limited to the installation of various Wireless equipment and minor project management. The technician may be required to perform new and additional services described and agreed upon with specific Partner agreements. TECHNICAL SKILLS A strong working knowledge of various hand tools Excellent troubleshooting and logic skills Ability to solve moderately complex problems Excellent follow-through skills Ability and willingness to learn additional technical skills quickly Excellent oral communication skills while presenting his/herself in a professional manner to customers. The ability to work well with a team or alone if necessary. Strong personal initiative and self direction Excellent organization skills High energy, enthusiasm and motivation Pass a background and drug test Demonstrate knowledge of all Company Policies Procedures Carry out routine and special assignments as directed by manager. Maintain a clean and safe vehicle. Maintain a Safe Driving Record in accordance with Marsh Creek’s Motor Vehicle Guidelines. High level of competency with the use of Telco testing equipment, digital meters and computer operating systems Ability to maintain and upgrade software requirements. Knowledge of customer premise wiring practices, safe drilling and ladder practices. Practical working knowledge as well as theory of router configurations. Demonstrated understanding of RF theory and application applied in the microwave bands. CCNA required but can commensurate with demonstrated understanding and application. Demonstrated LAN/WAN troubleshooting skills. Demonstrated understanding of TCP/IP, Ethernet and ATM protocols. Willingness to assist electricians and other workers in performing duties “to get the job done” Additional Skills Desirable Willing to climb tall towers Certified Tower Climber and CPR certifications or ability to acquire.
