Teaching English and cultural exchange in a farming community in Ubon Ratchathani Volunteer project: The main focus of the volunteers' activities will be teaching English to children in the schools of the village and also engaging themselves in farming. They will also be involved in the daily life of the villagers. Depending on the time, volunteers will be helping the villagers to do some community work. In the process, the volunteers will be able to learn about the local lifestyle, culture and traditions. In return, they will also teach the children and the villagers about their own lifestyle, culture and traditions. The volunteers will also visit a Buddhist monastery outside the village in a nearby forest.
Language: English
Location: Ubon Ratchathani Province, Northeastern Thailand. This camp is located in a rural area of the city of Ubon Ratchathani, which is 650 km northeast of Bangkok.
Special requirements: You should love children, as you will be surrounded by loads of them most of the time. The ability to teach independently and creatively is a must, and you should come up with ideas for children's activities before coming. You may need communication skills; especially music can be a great way of communicating, so bring your own instruments and songs! A different way of teaching may improve the relationship with the children. If you have some ideas about learning games that can be played in the classroom or during free time, that would be great, because the children enjoy it much more than just "normal learning". You should also be interested in doing manual work, as you will be doing some work for the local community. Age range: 18 and over
