Taj Mahal Music Box By Fred Zimbalist,a famous name in the music world, has for years developed many unusual designed Swiss music boxes of the finest quality. As for the movement in the box he used world famous Ruege Swiss, unsurpassed for its construction and quality of tone. Each box is a handmade creation from India by men dedicated to their work. The Indian Art technique springs from mud thatched huts from various parts of India. Here world famous craftsmen live and work in traditional ways handed down from generation to generation. These music boxes are true gems of workmenship and skill, handmade and untouched by machines. The craftsman spends weeks engraving and etching the design that his mind has conceived. The casting is brass and bronze, plated with a golden, nickel, solution. The art piece is polished and rubbed with woolen puffs. This music box is from around 1970. The Ruege mechanism is in excellent, like new condition. Comes with 25 brand new like, perfect, 4½ discs and 6 discs with rust but certainly playable. They just don't look all that great. The Taj Mahal is in excellent "shiny" nickel silver condition. There is some wear on the nickel finish on the storage drawer knob and a tiny wear spot just above knob on very edge of box. Measures 14½" by 14½' square and 19" tall.
