Position Overview

This position is one of the most important at Sur La Table. The Sales Associate, through in-depth product knowledge and excellent customer service, provides the customer with a satisfying and enjoyable shopping experience while in our stores.

Job Responsibilities (including, but not limited to)

• Provide customers with accurate product information
• Assist customers in the selection and purchase of merchandise
• Up-sell merchandise and make recommendations to meet customer's needs
• Maintain a personal customer book, which details customer communications, including purchases and special requests
• Consistently maintain communication with customers regarding promotional events and new products
• Send customers 'thank you' notes when appropriate
• Perform all cashier duties and learn Sur La Table's POS system
• Assist in preparation for cooking and product demonstrations as requested
• Shipping and receiving merchandise
• Responsible for merchandise restocking and maintenance of assigned areas
• Opening/closing the store
• Other duties as required

Job Requirements (including, but not limited to)

• Basic knowledge of kitchen/cooking equipment
• Experience with electronic cash registers
• Previous sales experience
• Excellent customer service skills
• Cooking skills a plus
• Ability to pack and unpack merchandise
• Ability to bend and lift consistently (up to 35 pounds on a regular basis)
• Ability to climb ladders on a regular basis
