We are creating a new Los Angeles-based production group to make short-form documentary videos for Current TV.

We're psyched about creating content for Current because of its vision to democratize media. A full 30% of all the content broadcast is made by viewers - VC2 ("Viewer Created Content"). As VC2 producers we can produce anything we want and submit it for broadcast. We pitch the creative execs every week on new ideas, use their feedback, and have more stories than we can produce!

We are looking for an editor who wants to join our team of vibrant, positive young people seeking to make change in the world through broadcast video. You will have a lot of creative input and you can also pitch your own ideas. Our projects include: sexuality and dating; youth culture; fashion; independent music; Iraq war veterans; student issues; citizen journalism; pets and animals; diet and health; spirituality; politics and the election; current events; and many others.

Current TV is the fastest-growing TV network in history, the only independently-owned network in the U.S., and available in more than 50 million homes in the U.S. and UK. It's also on the web at Current.com. It was started in 2005 by Al Gore and has won an Emmy award for interactive television.

Our Team
Lead producer: a UCLA film school graduate student who is a Student Executive Producer for Current TV and a segment producer with BannerCaswell Productions, Santa Monica;
Associate producers:
--a UCLA student and campus organizer with ties to the fashion, music, activist and ethnic communities, who is also a Student Outreach Representative for Current TV;
--a recent UCLA art school grad and photographer with a passion for independent music
Equipment: We use the DVX-100b camera, miniDV cameras, stealthy Flip cams, badass AudioTechnica mics, a fab Bogen tripod, and we have access to HD cameras

Credit and Compensation:

Current TV pays between $250 and $2000 for each short documentary they choose to air. As our lead editor you will be credited in each piece we make. Whoever is lead producer on a piece splits the payment with you.

Our vision is to work as a team on projects that fire us up. We pursue stories, characters and issues that we think the world should know about. Each of us will bring our unique talents and vision to the projects. The sky's the limit. Our hope is to build an awesome team of like-minded people and produce fabulous content for Current TV.

Your job would include log and capture, music and sound design and final cut. You get paid when we get paid. Like most documentary projects, it starts as a labor of love and vision. We are looking for a team partner who is committed to our vision rather than a Final Cut jockey who's just out for the cash (as we can't promise lots right now). If you're as excited about Current as we are, let's talk!
