ACORN Political Organizer

Make an impact for Social and Economic Justice in the 2008 Elections!!ACORN, the nation’s largest grassroots community action group is hiring political organizers throughout the country. In 2004 ACORN registered 1.15 million low and moderate income voters in 26 states, passed the state-wide increase in the minimum wage in several states, and contacted over 2.5 million low and moderate income voters as a part of our GOTV program.

In 2008, ACORN will register over 1.2 million voters and mobilize 1.7 million through an extensive Get Out The Vote Program.Our Voter Registration, Education and Mobilization Program works to give a strong political voice to low and moderate income, minority and young voters to advance issues such as fair wages, access to healthcare and housing, ending the foreclosure crisis and access to higher education.Political Organizers implement the field work that makes this program happen.

Responsibilities:
Recruit, Train and Manage 10-15 part-time staff.
Identify and Develop a core team of staff leadership.
Develop and execute a voter registration site plan
Manage Voter Registration Staff to meet goals following voter registration laws in your state
Daily Management of the Quality Control system and staff
Administrative responsibilities including processing and submitting voter registration cards, managing payroll, reporting goals and production via on-line systems.
Understand and meet office budget
Gather, research, and analyze voter information and make goals from the information.

Qualifications:
BI-LINGUAL a MUST
Strong commitment to social/economic justice
Familiarity with internet, email, and basic office programs including Word and Excel.
Ability to deal with a wide variety of problems/crisis management
Must valid drivers license and car
Must be able to make a commitment till December 2008

Salary/benefits: Dependent upon experience. Health care and full benefits are provided.Out of state training may be required.
