JOB TITLE: Payroll Associate

LOCATION: Los Angeles

REPORT TO: Finance Manager

SUMMARY: Relief International, a humanitarian non-profit agency with the vision and commitment to save lives and sustain livelihoods, is searching for a Deployment Officer.Under the supervision of the Finance Manager, the incumbent is responsible for coordinating all aspects of payroll in conjunction with the Finance Officers and other HQ staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Perform complex clerical duties involved in the preparation and processing of the Relief International employee payrolls to ensure accuracy of monthly salary payments
•Process Relief International employee time sheets and leave request forms to ensure proper completion and authorization of leave is taken
•Audit timesheets and contracts to ensure proper and up-to-date payroll information is processed
•Prepare manual checks and final payment checks as required
•Prepare Relief International employee payroll gross totals and prepare payroll summary sheets for verification of completed payroll data
•Distribute department payroll check subsequent to preparation by data processing;
•Coordinate corrective action on incomplete or incorrect time sheets with department supervisors and Human Resources
•Ensure donor compliance and appropriate allocation of salary via time sheets
•Answer inquiries from federal, state and local agencies and from individuals concerning payroll data
•Resolve general problems of payroll processing
•Perform other related duties as requested


QUALIFICATIONS:
•Bachelor’s degree required, in the areas of finance, accounting, or business.
•Entry-level position but preferably a minimum of 1 year prior payroll administration with an international NGO or agency working in emergency relief or international development
•Excellent written & verbal communications and computer literacy skills required.
•Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, tasks efficiently.
•Excellent time management skills and resourcefulness with a very strict attention to detail.
