MEETin.org is very different from other web-based communities in that it is not just another event posting board, or limited by who is able to join. Instead, it's focus is on local events that bring people together to meet and have a good time. MEETin.org has become such a success that more than 89043 members have now joined MEETin groups in over 90 cities, both in the U.S. and internationally, such as Boston, Chicago, Denver, Phoenix, Portland, Amsterdam, Paris, and Toronto.
Each group is run by local volunteers in the area of the group's city with the main purpose of bringing people together to find new friends and do fun things. Unlike other sites, we are not a dating or a business networking service, we invite all people whether you are married, single, in a committed relationship, etc to come and meet people in your area. The focus of the MEETin Groups is to build a social network by making new friends without the pretense of establishing business networks to make money.

Q: What is an EVENT?
An event is anything that you are interested in doing, and think that others might be interested in doing as well. An event is planned for a specific date/time, and gets posted on the "Events" list. There are no membership fees to be a part of MEETinMIAMI, all you have to do is pay for your own cost of an event, if there is a cost, as many are free. For example, if you go out with the group to see a movie or to dinner, you pay for the cost of your movie ticket, share of dinner etc.) Meetin.org does not make money on any events, we are here solely to provide a means for people to reach out and make new friendships - cause that's how we roll! :).
The beauty of this site is that while we do have moderators to try to keep things on the website in-line, the members of the group are the ones who really run everything. This site only works if you, yes, I said YOU! :) keep planning and posting events. It doesn't have to be a big thing! You can throw out a movie date & time for the latest blockbuster and simply invite people along--instant event.
