Title: Foreign Student Advisor, English Language Center
English Language Center is a successful and dynamic private language school established in 1978. We teach English to international students from around the world and offer them comprehensive support services such as housing, academic counseling, social activities, and more.The average age of our student body is 20-25, and students hail from all countries around the globe. Our school is located on Wilshire Boulevard in Westwood Village.
Job Description:
The Foreign Student Advisor is responsible for a variety of tasks, including counseling students and agents on all immigration matters; conduct first day immigration orientation; many of our students come on a student visa (F-1), so the FSA is in charge of preparing all I-20 forms necessary for obtaining the student visa; enter and track students in SEVIS; manage extensions/transfers / reinstatements; assist the Director of Courses with attendance; meet with the students in violation of ELC attendance policy; track no-shows on first day and contact students/agents to maintain accurate records; assist students with health insurance enrollments. Other responsibilities include college counseling, and assisting in various administrative duties.
Qualified Candidates Should Have:
•fun and energetic personalities
•interest in international relations / intercultural exchanges
•previous experience working with international students
•ability to work with FileMaker
•ability to work in a fast-paced environment
•excellent communication skills
•cultural sensitivity and ability to work with multi-cultural groups
•knowledge of foreign languages and cultures and/or study abroad experience would be a plus
