Well funded Bio-Medical Equipment Design and Development start-up Company seeks a: Firmware Engineer Job Description: Designs, modifies, develops, writes and implements firmware programming applications. Participates in the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing and certification of firmware/software. Has designed, planned, and implemented firmware/software programs. Has selected off the shelf hardware to host the firmware and provided interfaces to host computer.Has provided technical support to project team members. ·Responsible for VHDL design, implementation and testing ·Participate in system level design. ·Design firmware for a single or multi FPGA board running on a real-time basis with significant interfaces ·VHDL coding, testing, simulation/verification ·Create data collection firmware ·Develop and execute firmware/software validation plans ·Debug, hardware/firmware/software integration and verification ·Design, testing and verification documentation ·Design with gigabit Ethernet I/O ·Design with FPGA interfaces with high-speed memory ·Design with FPGA interfaces with high-speed LVDS devices ·Experience in digital signal processing and digital controls ·Experience with 405 power PC processors a plus ·Strong, proven documentation and detail orientation required ·FPGA coding and Image processing background/experience a plus ·A/D and D/A designs and testing experience a plus ·Interfacing to host computer through Express PCI ·Selecting Off-The-Shelf hardware to provide the processing capability to host the firmware. ·Experience in designing and developing electronic medical devices a plus ·Experience in Matlab for control and simulation is a plus ·Working under FDA design controls or equivalent a plus ·Strong written and verbal communications in English is required ·Successful candidate will be entrepreneurial, driven, self-motivated, team player who is passionate about the potential of new technology and society benefit Reports To:Director of Engineering Work Location:San Antonio/Houston, Texas Work Experience:Minimum 3 years relevant experience plus medical imaging experience in optics and/or ultrasound preferred Education:Minimum B.S. Computer Science or Electrical Engineering Relocation:Open Compensation:Very competitive The position is full-time, in San Antonio, Texas with required regular travel to Houston for 1 to 3 days at a time in the near term.
