This position will be a part of the organization’s senior leadership team.The Director of Programs has overall accountability, under the direction of the Executive Director, for local and regional programs(campaigns, alliances, partnerships, leadership development programs) of the Miami Workers Center. The Director of Programs supervises the Organizing Director and Communications Coordinator to ensure that MWC organizational initiatives are aligned with agency mission and governing principles.The Director of Programs is responsible for the integration of power-building, movement building, and internal development activities of the Miami Workers Center. The Director of Programs will oversee staff training and development and act as a resource to staff directors in the areas of program implementation, planningfor future program development, and coordination among different programs and projects.The Director of Programs maintains external relations regionally, and represent the organization’s work nationally.The position is responsible for developing the internal alignment of the organization in order to maximize its effectiveness in the community and region.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. The Director of Programs:
1.Develops, in conjunction with Board, Executive Director, and staff a coherent vision for the delivery of programs and services based on the mission, vision, values and key result areas(major strategies) of the organization.
2.Acts as a resource, and provides support to program staff, including programmatic orientation of new staff.
3.Works closely with lead staff in all aspects of program management, delivery of services, problems in program implementation, staffing issues, community support, overall quality control etc.
4.Ensures that all programs are in compliance with contracts and reporting requirements and helps to develop measurable outcomes.
5.Ensures integration of organizing, communications, policy development, coalition building and national movement building.
6.Accountable for development of agency "regional plan", outlining program development; and Director of Programs will serve as the regional point person for the agency to regional allies.Building and leading regional coalitions and policy initiatives
7.Takes lead and makes recommendations to Executive Director for ways to improve coordination and integration of programs.
8.Works with Organizing Director to assess needs and issues of community and to develop vision for future program growth, including institutional partners, allies, donors, etc.
9.Works with Director of Operations to ensure that organizational administration, operations, policies, and procedures are aligned with program goals and to ensure that organizational infrastructure(IT, database, etc.) is effective to carry out program needs.
10.Works closely with Development Director to develop funding to support existing and new services.
11.Works with all staff and Board members, as appropriate, to develop coherent public/community relations. Helps programs to achieve community visibility.
12.Develops and maintains effective relationships with targets, community groups, funding sources, and community leaders, including representingthe agency in forums, public meetings, community coalitions.
13.Works with Communications staff to ensure that there is a good system to distribute information to program participants, allies, decision makers and other target audiences about relevant issues and organizational developments.
14.Contributes, as member of the Executive committee(senior management team), to problem solve and build policy for agency as a whole.
15.Develops and participates in program and agency trainings, including political education
16.Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience
Experience working with low-income communities.
Understanding and awareness of race, class, and gender issues preferred.
Experience with community organizing, progressive organizations and issues, coalition work
3 years supervision/management experience in social justice setting preferredBi-lingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred
