Seeking a Director of Development for a Statewide non-profit organization based in Miami, FL. Position requires a B.A. (M.A. degree preferable) in related field and minimum four years of fundraising experience.
This position is responsible for working directly with the President in the development of discretionary funds and capital campaigns.This includes developing a strategic plan for achieving development objectives for generating discretionary income.Strategies include special events, major gifts and planned giving. The position serves as a key member of the organization's leadership team.
Some skills/qualifications necessary include Excellent interpersonal skills – pleasant, approachable personality; Ability to effectively interact with diverse community groups including youth, parents, business and other civic associations; Ability to manage development campaigns and successfully raise goal; Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and preferably in Spanish; Demonstrated ability to write effective letters and proposals to achieve objectives; Excellent leadership and follow up skills including development of detailed action plans with time lines and specific objectives; Good knowledge and linkage with the community; Ability to foster and maintain effective working relationships with others; Ability to work independently; Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Windows.
