Job description:
Summary:
Creates physical database tables. Administers, maintains, develops and implements policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the data warehouse databases and servers. Implements data models and database designs, data access and table maintenance codes; resolves database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication, and other distributed data issues. Works with data dictionary software packages to produce and maintain current data models. Recovers corrupted data and uses tuning tools to improve database performance. Works with application development teams focusing on the back-end portion of the data storage considerations and performance considerations for the applications being developed. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within database administration and data warehouse best practices. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision; typically reports to a manager.

Requirements:
**BS or equivalent job related experience required.
**Minimum 5+ years experience in Data Warehousing database administration on Microsoft SQL Server (2000 and 2005).
Qualifications:
**Demonstrated success in building, implementing and supporting MS SQL server in an Enterprise Data warehouse environment.
**Demonstrated proficiency using data modeling tools (Erwin preferred).
**Data modeling experience.
**Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with team, management, customers and vendors.
**Understanding of proven BI/Data Warehouse best practices (covering database design implementation and maintenance)
**Experience with MS analysis services, SSIS and SSRS and other BI tools a plus.
**AS/400 experience a plus.
**Ability to demonstrate a strong character, established through a strong work ethic, and the ability to take ownership and be held accountable
**Experience with the implementation of disaster recovery procedures and practices a plus.
**Demonstrate initiative & have proven experience in supporting production, development, and QA database environments
Responsibilities:
**Provide support for BI Team in developing BI environment by aiding in database design, performance tuning and database maintenance.
**Work with System administrators to ensure optimal database performance, integrity and security.
**Maintain ERD for the data warehouse and corresponding data marts.
**Maintain production, Development and QA environments for data warehouse and corresponding data marts.
**Work cooperatively with other departments within SWS in a way that puts the combined needs of the business as the top priority
**Contribute to client satisfaction by providing timely and responsive value added business solutions and work products
**Business requirements analyst. Analyses and evaluate request for new or modified reporting access needs to determine feasibility, cost and time required, compatibility with current system, and computer capabilities.
**Documentation preparation. Prepares flowcharts and diagrams to illustrate sequence of steps processes must follow and to describe logical operations involved. Writes documentation to describe process development, logic, coding, and corrections.
**Gather requirements and ETL solutions based on requirements.
