Primary Purpose:
To perform the initial processing and orientation of refugees upon their release to Church World Service. This position will be required to work on the weekends.

Essential Duties:
•Interviews incoming clients.
•Performs all clerical work relating to the processing and maintenance of case files such as: preparation of the US Government intake document during initial interview as per requirements; preparation of the I-765; preparation of arrival and release list for OIA; preparation of memos and other correspondence related to the case.
•Transports clients from port of detention (Krome Detention Center, Miami International Airport, Port of Miami, or other DHS holding facilities) to CWS/IRP Miami Office, and to and from the hotel and to Miami International Airport as needed.
•Handles emergencies and/or direct services needs such as illness, changes in plans, food and/or clothing distribution, transportation to and from medical and INS appointments, etc.
•Verifies sponsors’ information or assists the refugees in contacting potential sponsors.
•Assists the supervisor in the process of case follow-up by phone or in person for pending resettlement cases at the hotel.
•Assists the Supervisor in the preparation of the statistical reports.
•Performs other related duties as requested by Program Administrator and/or Supervisor.
•Is on-call during weekends and after hours when required.

Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.Some college preferred.

Experience:
Minimum of one year’s previous work experience in refugee or immigrant-related services, providing familiarity with US refugee and/or immigration issues and terminology.Experience working with church-based organizations or other direct social service providers preferred.

Prepare reports on program status relative to budget and finances.

Other Skills:
Computer literacy, using word processing and database applications. Fluent in Spanish.
